Title: Poly Results???
Post by: CKD on Aug 11, 2012, 10:54 AM
I took a poly and told 100% the truth.  The examiner said I failed with a score of 8-9 out of 10 and asked me to tell the truth on things I may have been deceptive about.  I told him that I was 100% honest throughout the exam as well as before/after.  Does this really mean I failed the test?

Yes, in all likelihood it means you failed. However, if your polygraph was with the CIA or NSA, note that these agencies' polygraph operators frequently accuse examinees of withholding information and badger them for admissions, only to invite them back for one or more follow-up sessions before (in some cases) "clearing" them.

Wouldnt you think that 8-9 out of a 10 score means you pass?

At the beginning of our meeting, I asked the examiner if I would be able to know the results before leaving and he told me that no, he would have to print the charts off and analyze them.  So I'm confused now as to why when I asked him at the end of the test how he thought I did, he asked me how I thought I did, and I told him I thought I passed.  That is when he told me I scored a 8-9 out of 10 and failed and though he didnt think I commited the crime to the amount in question he thought I did do something, wished me luck and then send me on my way.

I know of no scoring system in the polygraph technique that uses a scale of 1 to 10. He was probably thinking about some hot babe.
