Title: CIA poly
Post by: Hope1978 on Jun 06, 2012, 05:28 PM
I have taken a polygraph with a NSA today.

It was a really wired experience....
I was not asked a single control question. All questions I was asked were either relevant or irrelevant (name, today's date, etc).
At the end, the examiner accused me of a strong reaction to terrorism question. For the life of me, I do not understand how could I react to that question, needless to say I have nothing to do with terrorism, have never been involved with any terror organization, etc.
Moreover, my friend died in Sep 11 attacks.

I told the examiner that I have probably reacted strongly to the terrorism question because I lost a friend to terrorism.

The examiner told me that I need to come for a second poly.

Now I am worried that I will again react strongly to terrorism question because I will be worried about it...

I am also wondering why they haven't asked a single control question....

Any advice?

You titled this thread "CIA poly" but you say you had an "NSA" poly.  Which one is it?!
If you read "The Lie Behind the Lie Detector", you would know that the IC community always uses irrelevant questions.  And what you describe is typical for a CIA poly (and NSA polys too probably).  Read these threads, and search this site for others.  Just about all CIA applicants are accused of having trouble on a question (or questions) and have to come in for a second poly.
