Title: One DQ and DQ'd for life?
Post by: InterestingName on Aug 05, 2010, 01:30 AM
So I have a question...

I applied with a police department about 3 years or more ago. I had a polygraph and I failed. Without giving out too many details or boring people to death, I failed because I offered a discount to a friend at a store totaling $50 and I felt guilty about which so it came up which wasn't on my packet prior to the polygraph.

So now I am applying at different police department in a different state (They also have a pre-employment polygraph). I will be telling them about my experience (I am sure they could figure out anyways).

My question is, although I will be telling all my answers truthfully and I will be open regarding this DQ experience, am I DQ'd for life from getting a job as a LEO because of this experience?

it is unlikely the prior polygraph will disqualify you.  make your disclosure and push on with great vigor.  there are  plenty of departments who have little concern about failing  previous polygraph examinations. employment standards vary from department to department

I hope this applies for Nevada as well.
