Title: Did I fail the polygraph?
Post by: chikita11 on Apr 06, 2010, 06:09 PM
Today I took a polygraph for the FBI.

Afterward, the examiner said that I had a strong reaction to the drug question and asked me why that might be.

I said it's because I have a friend who was a former drug addict (true) and that I had mentioned this during my security interview.  He said HQ wouldn't be "crazy" about my reaction to this question.  He tried to get me to confess but I didn't (since I had nothing to confess).  It was all so confusing.

They made me leave before I took the drug test I was supposed to have.  I asked why and they said they needed to see my results from HQ first.

Did I definitely fail?  Or is it possible that I still passed/got an inconclusive score?

I cannot say you definitely failed, but based on the post-test interrogation and your being sent away without taking the drug test, I'm afraid it doesn't sound good.

When I failed the test, they told me outright. the way they score it, you can have a reaction to one question, and still pass in total. it may have been a -2 score on that question, but not high enough to "fail" and maybe he was fishing for an admission. I'd give you a maybe. (I failed 3 FBI polygraphs (unfairly) as an applicant so I know what failure looks like, lol) or you may get inconclusive.
