Title: Blood Pressure Medication
Post by: bp-guy on Dec 31, 2009, 04:13 PM
Will it help to take blood pressure medication before a polygraph test?

Certain types of medication will keep your blood pressure around 120/60. One on the meds in mind was an ACE inhibitor.

I read that there are a few different body functions that are read on the poly machine...so if one is ruled out...will that help?

Conversely, would it be WORSE to take a BP med before a poly test?

....sorry if this was already posted somewhere else in this forum; I looked around and did not see any topics about blood pressure medication.

I think it would be a mistake to take any medication not prescribed for medical reasons: it's not likely to help you pass a polygraph, and it may have adverse side-effects.

For a detailed explanation of polygraph procedure and how to reduce the risk of wrongly failing a polygraph without medication, see Chapters 3 & 4 of The Lie Behind the Lie Detector (https://antipolygraph.org/lie-behind-the-lie-detector.pdf) (1 mb PDF).
