Title: Secret Service background investigation
Post by: Lola on Nov 06, 2009, 12:41 PM
Just was wondering how in depth they go for a uniformed officer position. Will they contact any of my old friends which I did not list as references or will they just check with the local area law enforcement agencies where I lived? I am set to take the written test in Jan and then from there I will take the poly. I am currently in the army with a secret clearance and set to get out in June 2010.

Thanks!

you can expect a background investigator to talk to all your neighbors and landlords. the references you list as well as any others they can identify. they will check for criminal and civil records in every jurisdiction where you have lived.  they will contact you schools and verify you education. the will check to see if you listed  all your past employment on the application.. if not they may disquilify you... any differences between what your report and what the investigator could result in your being disqualified.
