Title: What is the best countermeasure?
Post by: braden761 on Jul 30, 2009, 09:24 PM
I have heard biting your tongue works the best. Do you do this before you answer or after?

I have always been confused on when to give the answer.

Recently took an poly and he wanted me to read numbers and intentionally lie when he ask me if a number is there. Am I supposed to apply a countermeasure when doing that?

I have always been confused on what questions to apply countermeasures and which ones to answer normal.

Any suggestions.

While tongue-biting can be an effective polygraph countermeasure, I don't see any basis for claiming that it "works the best." For information on how and when to apply countermeasures, see Chapter 4 of The Lie Behind the Lie Detector (https://antipolygraph.org/lie-behind-the-lie-detector.pdf).
