Title: Getting an early start
Post by: wpb13 on Jun 26, 2009, 05:42 PM
I'm a freshly graduated high school senior planning on applying for the NCS internship program after my first year of college, and I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice on what they're looking for exactly. What kind of classes should I take? I'm already fluent in spanish, passable in portugese, and I'm learning arabic now, because I know languages are definitely a big plus. I'm planning on enrolling in a few political science classes as well as general chemistry. Is there anything I could be doing this summer or otherwise during the next year that might help? (aside from staying far away from any drugs and criminal activites)
Thanks!

I recently applied for the same position in March and I only made it past the initial phase.  The positions available are few and far between and it is obviously extremely competitive.  I got an entire year of Arabic under my belt along with travel to the Middle East and Europe but that did not help too much.  If there is any way you could gain a security clearance or if you have military experience that would definitely help.
