Hey all, I'm new to the site and I'm going to be taking a polygraph for a police agency (I'm afraid to mention which since I don't know if they can find out). Anyways, I was wondering how the grading of the polygraph works? If you get ONE question wrong, do you fail the polygraph? From what I am told, I will be filling out a booklet with different sections that have questions related to that particular section. The polygrapher will then ask "did you lie in section a?" and etc. If I get ONE question wrong, do I fail the polygraph? I'm really paranoid about this because as we all know, polygraphs are a farce. Also, I checked out some parts of the book about the poly, I gotta finish it up.
Btw, my friend took a polygraph for a different agency and said his was based on stats, which is that they found him to be more honest than deceitful, thus even though there was deception detected, he still passed because he was being honest most of the time.
This polygraph garbage pissing me off, leaving my career up to chance is something I do not like.
Thanks a million.

Yes. Failing just one relevant question (by showing a stronger reaction to it than to a corresponding "control" question) results in failing the polygraph (and typically, disqualification from employment).
what if when i was a kid did some things in my teen years will that disqualify me because i was a gangbanger, but after being 18 got my life in order now im 33 and been on the straight and narrow ever since. passed the test but told them everything before i took the test.
