George,
Please accept my belated congratulations on your 7th anniversary last month.
I'm curious how many copies of TLBTLD have been downloaded. If you could break it down by edition and by year, that would be very interesting. Incidentally, when did each of the editions appear? Is there a 5th edition forthcoming?
Peace,
Gordon
tap tap tap.....George? anybody home? (He must be "weight training" or writing poetry.)
I'd kinda like to know the info too. ::)
Paradiddle,
George is not answering because he is still hung over from the party. Being a "Global Moderator" for seven years is the longest George has ever held a job. He deserves to party a little.
Congrats George!

Congrats to you on another pointless ad hom attack.
Gordon,
We've stopped trying to count the total number of downloads of
The Lie Behind the Lie Detector (https://antipolygraph.org/lie-behind-the-lie-detector.pdf), and I cannot provide a breakdown of the number of downloads by edition. However, I can conservatively estimate that it is currently being downloaded directly from AntiPolygraph.org at a rate of over 1,000 downloads per week. There are also copies of various editions available on other websites, download rates for which I can make no estimate. In addition, the book small enough (about 1 mb) that those who have downloaded it may forward it to others as an e-mail attachment.
I would caution polygraph examiners from, for example, taking an estimate of the total number of polygraph examinations administered per week, dividing it by an estimated number of downloads of
TLBTLD per week, and then deciding to make a corresponding percentage of countermeasure calls.
The various editions of
TLBTLD were published on-line as follows:
- 1st edition: 2000
- 2nd edition: 2002
- 3rd edition: 2003
- 4th edition: 2005
While there will likely be a 5th edition, its release is not imminent.
George,
Many thanks!
Do you have any data suggesting whether the rate of downloads were initiallly? Is the level pretty stable or are you aware of any long term trends?
Peace.
Gordon
Gordon,
As a general trend, AntiPolygraph.org has seen slow and steady growth in the number of visits over time. We now rank highly among popular search engine results returned for searches including terms such as "polygraph" and "lie detector," and we are increasingly being linked to from social networking sites. I think it is likely that anyone seriously interested in researching polygraphy will find AntiPolygraph.org.
