Post by: Sam1 on Jan 30, 2007, 02:53 AM
hey guys,

I will be taking a CVSA exam soon for a probation position here in Arizona. I was just curious if any questions about mental health will come up.  IE  I saw a therepist a while back for some stuff, and was put on an anti depressant which i still take to this day.

Although you were a little vague in your comment "some stuff" regarding your reason for seeking help from a therapist... the question could come up.

Even if the question does not come up, I'm sure you will be required to take a pre-employment drug screening. If you are taking antidepressant medication it will show-up in your drug test.

Although it is strictly my opinion... if I were you, I would simply tell the application coordinator that I was taking prescription medication. If you do not disclose the fact that you are taking the medication, and they find it in your drug test, it will look to them as though you were trying to hide it.

You can't go wrong with telling the truth about taking a prescription med. However, that will certainly lead to further questioning regarding the reason you are taking the medication.

I would tell them, and not worry about it.
