I will be getting out of the military in the next 6 months. 5 years ago I applied for a couple police depts where I made some admissions that I didn't really have to out of fear. This was during the background questionare. I am going to test out with the FBI. If I don't mention that I applied for these jobs in the past will their background check pick it up. I made the mistake of being to honest in the past, don't want to make the same mistake again.
The FBI background is very thorough. Even more so than when I worked their from 83 thru 97. In addition to a full field background investigation where they will canvass every area where you have ever lived for criminal history as well as other info about your life, they will give you a polygraph exam and update your investigation every 3 or 5 years. You can't hide that stuff you told those other jobs. They will ask what other jobs you applied for and what happened. They will polygraph you and ask if you've ever been fired or lied. It's best to be upfront about it, as if they catch you lying your through.........
