Title: Exotic countermeasures...
Post by: collider on Mar 03, 2006, 10:46 PM
We all know the basics. Does anyone here know of any the more exotic/unknown ones, and be willing to share? Does that book "How to Sting the Polygraph?" contain any such information?

Thanks in advance.

Because polygraphy has no grounding in the scientific method, simply telling the truth is no guarantee that one will pass a polygraph. In fact, the more truthfully one answers the so-called "control" questions, the more likely one is to wrongly fail.

Using your method I failed my first three polygraphs even though I was being completely honest in all of them.

I passed my fourth polygraph while giving all the same answers to all the same questions.

It would be nice to think that telling the truth is all that is necessary to pass a polygraph.  In my experience as well as many others on this board that is simply not true.

Why do people that advocate telling the truth on a poly visit this site to begin with??

For many reasons, for example I just started visiting this site because I wanted to know that the polygraph is all about and to have an idea on what to expect. Because I have just heard so many rumors about the polygraph.

mountainman,

The polygraphers come here to present there side of the issue. Albiet an extension of the lie that is the polygraph, but still an open forum for them to do so.
They also try and undo any and all information on this site so they can perpetrate there voodoo and protect there jobs. This website is causing major pain across the board to all of the vaunted polygraph units.

Regards ...

I'm not sure I understand your question.

I've always advocated telling the truth during a polygraph.  I'll also advise you to worry like hell if you get a question about lying to your mother at age 12.

There are many people who tell the truth and fail polygraphs.  Even polygrapher's own literature indicates around 80% accuracy in field studies.  The same article argues for a two-step approach instead of the "kick to the curb" approach used by most federal agencies with the polygraph.  Again, this is according to "The Polygraph in Personnel Screening" covered in the Handbook of Polygraphy Testing.

If you start looking at the research produced by those outside the polygraph industry it becomes even more questionable.

Retcopper, really: "polygrah exams"?!

Again, hard to have faith in a purported "lie detection professional" who cannot even spell the name of the "exam" he administers. Or does not even think highly enough of it to spell it correctly.

Polygraphers have held job candidates to far higher standards in their sessions. You should at least get your spelling right, if only to show the rest of us that you take your craft the least bit seriously.

It may not hamper you, but I bet the information in the hands of your victims is beating you. Lets see how many people have you caught with countermeasures ??
Hmmmm  Don't see you posting any major catches, and from past experience I know you would be in here gloating.  And you may say you have ... but proof would go along way  too ....

So its either put up or shut up ....
