With regard to your question, I don't know whether the Canadian army trains any of its people to beat the polygraph. But polygraph "testing" has no scientific basis (http://antipolygraph.org/articles/article-018.shtml) to begin with. It's possible to pass the polygraph using simple countermeasures that polygraphers have no demonstrated ability to detect. You'll find these techniques explained in Chapter 4 of The Lie Behind the Lie Detector:
