I am in the LAPD hiring pipeline, and I have passed everything and am now at the background investigation portion. I met with the investigator in early May and it is now almost August. I haven't heard anything from him since our meeting. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Furthermore, should I call the investigator to "check in" or anything like that besides any changes in employment or residence, phone numbers and the like. I am thinking that I am in a great position to be hired, got a 100 on the oral and have been doing well at all stages of the process, but then I don't know whats going on right now. I hope if i am not selected that they just send me a letter already so that I can get on with other things I wanna do. Does it just take that long?
Why don't you call the investigator assigned to you and voice those concerns virtually the same way you have shared them here. The investigator may be snowed under by the volume of applicants, you may have slipped through the cracks, or you may be about to receive a letter saying no thank you. Or there may be nothing wrong at all. It does seem a bit long though.
Good luck
