Title: Current Trend?
Post by: sickness52 on Jul 17, 2005, 09:30 PM
Is the current trend for pre-employment polygraph exams in order to join a Law Enforcement Agency such as a Sheriff's Office or a Police Department on the decline or on the decreas overall? I am in NYS and out of the 2 local LEA one polygraphs and the other doesn't.

Just Curious

My personal observations are that the use of the poly is increasing.

This is however only my inference into this subject and not a FACT.

WIth the rising trend of law suits and criminal organizations attempting to infiltrate LEA's, many of the higher ups in agencies seem to think the poly will keep us all safe :-/

While the polygraph is an excellent interrogation tool and helps tremendously because people confess to things, it worries me that many people put so much faith into it.

Overall, I would expect to see its use continue to increase until something better comes around.
