Title: Re-test question
Post by: leviticus on Jul 10, 2005, 02:22 AM
I have recently applied for a position as a police officer.  I have passed all requirements thus far.  Recently I reached the polygraph phase of my pre-employment testing.  I was extremely nervous because I had heard these test were not very efficient.  I passed all my questions with the exception of one,"Have you ever bought or sold illegal drugs?"  I haven't so I said no.  The examiner said I showed deceit on that question and after hounding me about purchasing drugs he said that he would need me to come back so I could be cleared.  My question is what should I expect on my return and why would that be necessary when I passed all questions concerning drug use. ???

Leviticus,

Most likely in a retest you can expect a specific issue exam.  Please note that many are subjected to either re-test or disqualification on this particular question.Drug questions for whatever reason seem to be the be all end all.  Good luck.

Leviticus,
Could you tell me if the polygraph examiner who is calling you back for another test is one who works at a private firm, or is he/she a police polygraph examiner?  Are you or the agency to which you are applying being charged anything additional for the second test?

Regardless of the answers, good luck on your second test.
