Title: Rape Victim has question
Post by: tweekster5281 on May 04, 2005, 03:11 AM
I was assulted about two months ago. I was told that I was a liar and that I was crazy.  I was thinking about asking for a polygraph test and was wondering if that was an okay idea.  If I do it does anybody know what kind of questions I'd be asked and am I going to have to sit there and tell my story.  Just was wondering it would be a HUGE help if somebody could let me know asap.

Thanks

Unfortunately, a polygraph "test" cannot prove that you are telling the truth, as polygraphy has no scientific basis (http://antipolygraph.org/articles/article-018.shtml). I think it would be a mistake to request a polygraph in this situation.

If you agree to submit to a polygraph "test," you can expect to be asked to tell your story in detail during the "pre-test" phase. As for the kinds of questions that might be asked, see the message thread, "Raped":

I hope this helps. If you have further questions, please ask.
