I took my first polygraph two weeks ago. Test was conducted just like the others that I have read. After I was unhooked from the machine, the examiner left the room for about 5 minutes or so. When he came back he stated that everything looked good except for an inconsistency with one of the questions. The question regarding drug use. He further explained that I was a good candidate and my future was in my hands. He also stated that since I was such a good candidate he was trying to help me out and that making a chance now would be better than later. So after a 5 minute speech he asked me if I wanted to make any changes to my drug answers. I stated that I had told the truth and that I would not change my answers. At this point I felt really intimidated and even accused of being some kind of drug user. He said "ok" and that I would get my results via mail.
Now, was he just fishing for an admittance of disqulifying information or did I fail the test since a post test question was made. Like I said I was given an intimidating speech for 5 minutes, I answered the question and he said ok. Once I left, I felt like if I failed for being honest and telling the truth.
Any information would be appreciated.
think he was intimidating you...did you put anything about drug use down on ur background packet?
Yes I did, and I confirmed what I put down on the test.
Floridakid,
If your polygrapher did not question you any further after you stated that you had told the truth, but merely said "OK," then you may well have passed and your polygrapher may indeed have merely been fishing to see if he could get an admission. Because illegal drug use is the biggest disqualifier for law enforcement applicants, it would make sense for a polygrapher to choose the question about drug for such a bluff. Ultimately, you'll have to await your results via the mail, but it seems that there are grounds for optimism.
You are fortunate at least he told you what question you missed. Mine didn't do that much and asked me if I thought of anything else I needed to add. I kept adding and had no idea what he was looking for. Then he asked me about any relationships I had. I started telling him, and giving details. After reading this forum, I feel stupid. He also told me he was curious about my religion.
My test was yesterday, and I can't shut my mind off about it.
