Title: CIA,  Affirmative Action and the Poly..
Post by: opp on Mar 13, 2005, 03:39 PM
Ladies and Gentlemen,

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I understand that the CIA is trying to bring more minorities to the agency after criticism that they are not doing enough to have a more diverse work force. If they have an affirmative action policy, I don't see how it can be implemented since those minority applicants, who were given "preference", still have to take the polygraph test with the CIA which has a failing rate of 75%. The only way they can accomplish diversity is by giving minorities preferences in the polygraph exam as well. Any thought?

I think that a better solution would be for the CIA to scrap the polygraph altogether. It's interesting to note that a suppressed study by the Department of Defense Polygraph Institute found that innocent blacks failed the polygraph at a substantially higher rate than innocent whites. Only 23.5% of innocent blacks passed, compared to 36.9% of innocent whites. And for both races, more than 50% of truthful test-takers failed:
