Title: a bit more than I expected...
Post by: Shrek on Mar 04, 2005, 08:32 PM
Hello,

I am preparing to apply for a PD and I saw, that the Poly is a big issue. I worked in a Police Force in Europe for 7 years and they do not use a Poly there.

In my previous Police Job, I was involved in a undercover drug investigation group and, of course, was involved in drugs (not direct use.)

I do not think, this is going to prevent the PD here from hiring me but how do I explain it to the PD?

"Have you ever been involved in a drug deal?"
-Yes.

Aehm, we do not want drugdealers in our PD... BYEEEEE

I think that is just weird but, of course, I will be honest on the Poly.
I wonder how they handle felonies etc, which happened in another country.

English is my second language and what, if I do not understand a question or I just need longer to answer. Or I have to ask, what do you mean by this... or that...

Not that I do not understand English very well, but sometimes, I just have to ask  ::)

Thanxxx

Hopefully you will have explained in your background questionaire and interview that you have served in the capacity of a police officer.  Your involvement in any drug activity for the purposes of police investigation should not count against you.  Any other involvement with drugs would be a concern.

Your poly artist is supposed to review the questions he/she will ask during the examination in the pre-exam phase.  This shoud provide you with the opportunity to clarify any questions being asked.

Felonies will depend on department policy or state requirement.  I can tell you that Arizona would have a problem with felonies.  See the thread about protitution.
