Hi all,
I was just hired as an Intelligence Analyst for the city I requested. As a result of very unforeseen circumstances, I am wondering about the FBI's policy on transfers. Anyone know if there is a "rule" on transferring to another city (i.e. after a year, after 6 months, no way ever...)
I don't start for another week--is it best to ask HR they day I start, or call now and ask to be moved before I start? I don't want to put my position at risk, I'll certainly stay where I am if there's a policy against it.
Thanks for the info, it's appreciated!
I don't know anything about transfers but i was wondering whether you knew when you'll be sent for the six weeks training. is it immediately?
I actually have no idea about training. Wish I did! Someone I know just started and said she did a few days at Quantico, and then had three weeks of training somewhere else in Virginia. I tried to ask the fbi a few times during my interviews but never really got a straight answer. I start Monday, though, I can tell you then!
:)
I look forward to hearing about how the training is scheduled/held. I'd call up the HR people immediately and ask them about transfers and other offices. There isn't any harm in asking them. Usually they have to contact HQs for answers but I'm sure there's no penalty for asking. And you never know, they just might allow you to start at your preferred office. I was accepted for another position with them and asked a bunch of questions regarding salary and location and they simply responded with no judgments. I ended up declining the position but hope to be considered for the IA position.
