Title: Question?
Post by: crv on Sep 15, 2004, 04:25 PM
Here is my problem...I think I may have to take a poly test for a pre employment screening. This job is not for a government position; it's for a wholesale company.  Is it legal for a private company to give Polygraph tests? Can I decline to take the test and still be hired?  Also, I would like to know if anyone has used the techniques in the book, and if they worked for you?

If the job involves a contract for a federal agency that requires polygraph screening, then you might indeed be legally required to submit to a pre-employment polygraph examination for it.

No there is no contract. I think the guy that owns it is very paranoid.

Then the employer may well be in violation of the Employee Polygraph Protection Act. You'll find the text of this law here:

Thanks George! If I do take the test, I'll post the out come.
