Is there any chance that someone could explain how to exactly pass this test. I am a little bit discouraged. I maybe tested for the polygraph for employment purposes. I've never used anytype of illegal drugs and have remained pretty much "straight edge" my whole life, thus far. I have read about "controled" questions and the "trickery" behind these tests and I have been told many different techniques, such as biting the inside of my cheaks after answering every question given to ensure that I have the same physicological response for each question. What is the goal here to control my physical responses and body languages as each question is given. B/c clearly this test does not measure whether one is telling the truth or not. What exactly would I have to practice before taking this test?
The most commonly used polygraph format for pre-employment screening is the "Control Question Test" (CQT), which comes in both probable- and directed-lie versions. The key to passing is to show stronger reactions to the "control" questions than to the relevant questions.
You'll find polygraph procedure explained at length in Chapter 3 of The Lie Behind the Lie Detector (http://antipolygraph.org/lie-behind-the-lie-detector.pdf), while techniques for minimizing the risk of a false positive outcome are explained in Chapter 4.
yes i am also in a similar situation but i was accused of taking prescription and i was currious if you could give me some pointers on how i should go about beating it what techniques you suggerest flex breathing ect... and what kind of questions i will be asked if it waill be controll or what have you please answer my post i would be greatful
read the TLBLD and that should answer your questions
I am finding this web site very informative and appreciate people like George who are willing to help inocent people from bein screwd by this junk science. I will be looking at taking a polygraph for preemployment purposes. While printing out TLBTLD, I ran out of toner in the printer and couldn't get the book comepletely printed. As I know that nothing can be 100% guaranteed in keeping me from getting a false positive, will it be worth my time in printing the book and taking time to read it? I already got one false positive on a CVSA earlier this year.
Thanks.
Smokey,
It is definitely worth the effort to finish printing TLBTLD and thoroughly reading it before undergoing this so-called testing procedure. You should be fully informed before consenting to such a process. Pre-employment polygraph screening has been declared invalid and unreliable by the National Academy of Sciences.
Thanks Polyfool. I got the book printed off after about 3 hours of waiting. But I'm sure it will be worth it. I'm just glad I found this web site BEFORE taking the "test".
