Voice stress tests attempt to differentiate between truth and deception by examining variations in a person's voice while answering a series of questions. As with the polygraph, voice stress analysis has not been proven through peer-reviewed research to operate at better-than-chance levels under field conditions.

You'll find a good discussion of voice stress analysis in Chapter 11 of the 2nd edition of David T. Lykken's A Tremor in the Blood: Uses and Abuses of the Lie Detector (New York, Plenum Trade, 1998).

In addition, you'll find discussion of voice stress tests on the CVSA and Other Voice Stress Analysis Applications (https://antipolygraph.org/forum/index.php?board=10.0) forum of this message board.
