Title: Did i pass?
Post by: TAC on May 28, 2004, 12:40 PM
Well I just took a polygraph yesterday for a medium market fire department. I got to the test 30 minutes early, dressed professionally, and tried to stay as calm as possible. The examiner was very nice. He explained how the machine worked and began the background paperwork with all the questions he needed to ask in order to come up with the relevant questions. I am now 33 years old. I admitted to smoking pot once when I was 17 years old, and to drinking and driving while in college. He asked me if I had ever been intoxicated in a public place or party. I thought this question was rather vague. I said yes but that it had been since before my first child was born(about 7 years ago).
We then proceeded to the examination room. He went over what questions he would ask me and then hooked me up. I swear I could feel my pulse rate skyrocket when he started asking me questions. I had a difficult time not noticing this because of the blood pressure cuff on my arm. He went through about 12 questions two times and then unhooked me.
After the test he said my charts looked good. We went back to his office and I signed some paperwork. he did not accuse me of deception on any of the questions either during or after the test. NO POST INTERROGATION. We shook hands and off I went.
If I would have spiked on any of these questions would he have brought it to my attention and given me a chance to explain? DO YOU THINK I PASSED?
Thanks,
TAC
