Title: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
Post by: BeatOfficer on Apr 25, 2004, 06:31 AM
I was once asked by polygrapher during the interview if I had Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD), he said it would affect the results of the test if  I had it. I lied and said "NO" (I passed that question by the way).

I curious if anyone has any info on studies done with ADHD in regards to its affect on polys or the CVSA.

There are no published studies on the effects of any medical condition on polygraph or CVSA examinations. Note that neither polygraphy nor CVSA have been proven to reliably distinguish truth from deception at better-than-chance levels even with persons who have no medical condition. See Chapter 1 of The Lie Behind the Lie Detector (http://antipolygraph.org/pubs.shtml) and the sources cited there for more on the scientific status of polygraphy.
