Title: Do I even have a chance
Post by: guest on Jan 19, 2004, 05:28 AM
Do  police psychologists normally DQ applicants who have seen a shrink when they were under 18. I know they normally seek records. Before I waste time and money I would like to know if I have a chance. I saw a shrink. Do applicants who saw a shrink normally get a DQ on every pd psych exam.

I think you will be ok.  Seeing a pshych doctor is like seeing a medical doctor.  We all get sick and we all get cured.  I say go for it and you should be ok.

Does anyone else have any comments regarding this issue. I did a research on the diagnosis. The research stated that it is not a serious mental illness. It is something like a child is having trouble in school, someone just broke up with their girlfreind, ect. I know that the police psychologist will be required to see these records. Does anyone else think I have a shot at passing a PD psych exam.

I took a psych test with a local LE department.  About three weeks later I was informed I passed and would not need to see a psychologist.  I was suprised because I thought a psych interview was required.  I am glad I did not have to meet with one so I am not complaining.

Final question on this topic, Has anyone here on the board heard of an officer who saw a psychologist regarding any kind of treatement before becoming a police officer.
