The 3rd edition of The Lie Behind the Lie Detector may now be downloaded as a 1 mb PDF file here:

Revisions and additions include (but are not limited to):

- a cover page
- PDF bookmarks for ease of navigation
- more detailed explanation of CQT polygraphy at beginning of Chapter 1
- discussion of the NAS report in Chapter 1
- discussion of agency reactions to the NAS report in Chapter 2
- a citation regarding the case of Abdallah Higazy from a Human Rights Watch report
- documentation of Ed Curran's polygraph crackdown at CIA, citing from Robert Baer's book, See No Evil
- examples of pre-Ames failures of the polygraph to catch spies
- mentioning that the FBI polygraph failure rate has been documented at about 50%, and cautioning readers to carefully consider whether it is worth the risk
- mention of the polygrapher's trick of telling a subject to thoroughly wash his hands, and then secretly watching to see if he/she complies
- an appendix with the text of a proposed Comprehensive Employee Polygraph Protection Act
- an appendix with a polygraph countermeasure review

It is perhaps worth noting that distribution of the 3rd edition is off to a good start, with some 2,500 copies downloaded in the first week since it was placed on-line.
