Quote from: tyson7 on Jan 19, 2009, 12:43 AMTwo questions:

1) Do I have a chance of becoming a police officer or state trooper with a DUI conviction? I had a DUI 13 years ago.

2) I have noticed on applications it asks if you have been convicted of a felony or a 1st degree misdemeanor? I am not sure whether to check yes and list the DUI or if it is a 2nd degree misdemeanor and if it is not neccesary to check yes? There wasn't any property damage or bodily injury to any other persons. I have read that it is a 1st degree misdemeanor if you cause bodily injury or if there is property damage to other.

Please help me if you know?

Thanks

The answer to both of your questions is: "Ask the appropriate person at the agency to which you are applying."  Only they can tell you for certain.

You should check the classification in the state and county at the time of the DUI. The reason I say at the time, state legislators are continually changing the laws. They do whatever they think will keep them in office whether it's right or wrong.
