It seems the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. You should be getting the thin white envelope shortly.

I was told that I failed my polygraph for an FBI analyst position, but two weeks later I got a call saying that my background investigation was starting. Does anyone have any idea what's going on here? Could the "failure" have just been some crazy mind game? Why would the investigation be starting if I hadn't passed? Isn't the background only started after a passed poly?

If anyone can shed some light on the procedure involved for this sort of thing, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
