Hi Everyone,
I just took my poly today. The polygrapher was a nice guy and we both had a lot of common interests. He retired from the PD I was testing for and we ended up BSing for so long he almost didn't have time to give me the poly because someone else had an appointment right after mine. He started out by scanning over the questionaire and then asked me to answer yes or no to about 20 questions. Mostly reguarding whether or not I had told the truth on the questionaire and clarifying a couple of statements I had made. Then he hooked me up to the machine and started the test. He asked me if my name was "xxxx". Then he asked me about 7 questions:
1) Did you lie about sexual crimes?
2) Did you lie in job area?
3) Did you lie about drugs?
4) Do you intend to tell the truth?
5) Are you hiding anything?
and I think about two others and then he told me I was done and I passed with flying colors. Then we went out to the back and had some coffee and a smoke and he told me a bunch of stories and gave me alot of advice about the dept and wished me good luck and that I have fun. The meeting started out just as the book "lie behind the lie detector" with the descriptions and "don't lie because we will catch you" line but after we started talking he kinda just dropped the whole charade. He even showed me the printout and let me play with the machine a bit. It was a rather interesting experience but definitely not one I would want to repeat.
