Really have you known people who were actually being investigated before they submitted their SF-86 to the security officer ?  Then they would eventually get invited to the polygraph shortly after they submitted their SF-86 formally ?

Thanks for the response any information helps I have a strong feeling I am actually being invesigated without submitting my SF-86 by agencies in the intelligence community ?

Flamenco2001,

First off, make sure and download, "The Lie behind the Lie Detector" (TLBLD) from this website. Especially read chapters 3 + 4. And make sure you know exactly what will happen in the polygraph interrogation. And know that the polygraph has no scientific validity what so ever, and is nothing more than a cheap parlor trick. And never let that polygrapher know, you know his scam. And especially never mention this website, as both NSA and CIA, truly dislike us here. We take away all there fun.

As far as your question is concerned yes they will start a BI. I have had friends tell me it happened to them.

Good Luck !!

Regards ....

Is it possible for an intelligence agency (CIA, NSA) to perform a background investigation on a individual before having a filled out SF-86 submitted based on information possibly given to them from a HR personel file.  My organization has a long relationship with IC and they have been looking to get approval for me to be processed.   They said there is no issue for me to be submitted immediately from late last year.  Since then I have been receiving updates from an individual who is an IC point of contact with my organization; they have said there is no issue but it is more paperwork regarding aligning me to "serials" for my clearance; but the individual (IC point of contact) has said they do not want my filled out SF-86 yet; this has been going on for a couple months.  This is for TS/SCI ISSA LifeStyle Poly.  Anybody has relevant information would be appreciated.

Thanks
