Anyone have an answer for this:  I was looking on the San Fransisco PD recruitment site, and it very clearly enumerates and spells out the procedure and process for application - but it VERY CLEARLY OMITS any reference to a polygraph as part of the screening process.  Is it true that the SFPD does not use the polygraph?

Deputy Dawg

Here is the answer to your query about SFPD and the poly.

THE BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION PROCESS CONSISTS OF:

     A psychological evaluation that includes a written evaluation and an interview.
     A polygraph examination that focuses on information provided in the candidate's personal history      questionnaire.
     An employment-character-background investigation.
     A medical examination that includes a vision test, a hearing test, and height/weight measurements.

This is taken from the SFPD website under General Information and Qualifications
//www.ci.sf.ca.us/police/careers/mnusub68.htm
