It will only hurt your chances more if you try to hide it.
Most law enforcement agencies have a requirement that you must not have smoked within the past three years. But now I see that this question was posted in 2005. If you didnt use any marijuana since then you should be okay. But some law enforcement agencies have a rule that you must not have smoked marijuana or any other drug while working as a security guard or studying criminal justice. Be sure to check with those agencies on what their rule is.

As for the Marines, I dont think your chances are hurt to become a Marine. As long as you pass the drug test you should be fine.

right now im in college getting a BA degree in cj, i want to eventually fly for the marines, customs, chp or something along that line, since ive been in college i have smoked marijuana about 6 times, how bad does this hurt my chances for these jobs?
