It's difficult to form an opinion on this case without knowing some additional information.  All that is known for sure is that Bauer would have been administered a pre-employment polygraph by the FBI prior to acceptance in 2009.  And further, would Bauer have been administered any aperiodic exams after hire?  If so, would it have included full scope relevant issues, or just CI-scope?  So my questions would be, was the conduct ongoing prior to the polygraph or after?  Polygraphs cannot forecast future behavior, only past acts.  Was Bauer administered a preemployment polygraph prior to hire as a state trooper?  According to the State of Alabama State Trooper Candidate Guide, a preemployment polygraph is administered.  If so, what relevant questions were asked?  For all I know, he might have gotten a waiver due to his past FBI employment.  Another key point, no examiner would be able to determine if someone was deceptive if they don't ask the RIGHT question.  That's why the first thing any examiner worth his salt wants to know is the details of a previous polygraph.

Tough to form an opinion without this information;  many antipolygraph proponents simply assume that someone like Bauer had to have been tested.  Just like George making the incorrect assumption that confessed spy Alexander Ching Ma "evidently" beat the FBI polygraph to gain FBI employment.  George is notorious for making such assumptions without having all the details.

Whoa?!  Why isn't this story on the justice.gov site?  Did any major news sources cover it?  An FBI pedophile who passed the polygraph should be national or even international news!   The stupid U.S. government keeps trying to keep these stories quiet.

And we have another federal poly-passing criminal!   Former FBI Agent Christopher Michael Bauer's was arrested in 2021 on charges of incest with a minor, sodomy in the first-degree and sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12.  At the time, he was an Alabama state trooper who had been booted from the FBI's New Orleans field office following several claims of sexual misconduct, according to Alabama prosecutors.  On Friday, June 14, 2024, Christopher Bauer was found guilty of sodomy and sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years of age.

On April 23, 2021, the victim, told a friend that she was being abused by Bauer, who she testified had been sexually assaulting her since she was 5-years-old, the prosecutor said.  So do the math.  The girl was under 12 at the time of the arrest, so the sexual abuse was going on for up to seven years.

Bauer had been suspended without pay and lost his security clearance at the FBI's New Orleans office in late 2018, a senior FBI official later confirmed to the AP. A co-worker had accused him of raping her at knife-point, the outlet reported.

I wonder how many FBI polygraphs Bauer passed during his crimes.  The Alabama state troopers also have to take polygraphs so Bauer passed those as well.

Man, the polygraph really is a complete joke!
