Several years ago when I enlisted in the military, I made the mistake of not disclosing my marijuana experimentation.

Now that I am looking at applying to police departments, I realize that I am in a bind.  I know that I should be upfront and disclose the usage, but I also know that I am now "on the record" saying something else.

I couldn't find anything previously in the forum about this dilemma and was wondering if anybody had any advise for me.

I do want to do the right thing and disclose this information now, but I wonder if the background investigator will find the contradictory information from the military and how badly this will look.
