With all do respect, I was attempting to "push it" as you so eloquently warned against, or else you would start naming names as sources of corruption within the LAPD...
I'm certain that many readers on this board would appreciate such indisputable tales of corruption and gross incompetence within the ranks of LAPD. After all, OJ Simpson was found "not guilty"... yea right.

They sit and watch for posts, and then include in thier questioning anything they have found as interesting here. I have always thought that anyone being forced to take a poly would be crazy not to find out as much as they can to be as informed as possible. Heck, you prepare for the physical tests right?
The Department however: thinks that information on this bogus test makes the applicant a countermeasure user or someone trying to pull something off on the poly. If the test was all that they think it is a countermeasure should not make any difference whatsoever. Also, there are just some personality types who judge themselves so critically that they a incapable of passing a test that causes them to question anything marginal they might have done in life. These are the ones who get screwed, heck, a good liar could pass a poly with flying colors. Look back at old posts here on this board and they brag about it! It just is disgusting that those who would be great officers are being DQed due to this type of unreliable science.
So there is where I am coming from, and I unfortunatly do have inside information and experience. I guess I just have it out for a Department who employs hiring practices that fall far below what they should. And in doing this they have the ability to ruin a young applicants hopes of Protecting and Serving a community.

You have many other qualified and honest applicants in the same camp as yourself who were screwed by this "test". It is bogus, now, it will always be, and will never be anything but a bogus test. It is not now nor will it ever be admissable in court. It is not now nor will it ever be a true measurment of a person telling the truth or telling a lie for that fact! It is nothing more that the poor excuse for a "tool" in the hiring process.
LAPD is not capable of doing a background check as the background investigators are poorly trained and on occasion let thier personal feelings or opinions towards applicants make decisions instead of the facts of the applicants background! Think about it, what COP wants to be inside and do backgrounds instead of working patrol or any other positions out on the streets. Thats right not the type of COP that I hope you wanted to be. I bet you actually wanted to "PROTECT AND SERVE" These P2's doing backgrounds are useless in the field so they go inside to be protected (instead of protect) from any danger and can have a good civil service job with no danger whatsoever. You should see these COPS try to qualify to carry their guns, it is quite funny as I think they are afraid of the gun they are attempting to qualify with!
Now, also think about this?? do you want to work at a Department that hired Rafel Perez and his band of CRASH COPS who were worse than those they were supose to arrest? Did you hear about the CRASH house those COPS had where they took girls and durgs for their personal use? Heck, they even paid the rent with money they took as edvience out on the streets....... And, also think of many of the command staff at this Department who are involved in less than legal practices using their badges as a safety net. Let's see I can think of one who bought a apartment building with drug money, one who has several drunk driving tickets, one who was in a motel not his office when the Rodney King situation happened, one who sold porno, one who had an affair with no less that 4 communtiy members, one who enjoys knocking his wife around.....need I go on? as the list could go on and on. And if by chance someone at LAPD is reading this post........you know each and every thing I have posted is TRUE! Next time maybe I should add the names of these command staff members to make my point!
So, please consider yourself "lucky" that you will not be working at a Department that has far less than the best of the best employees..............Find someplace else to work!
Have a good life....and remember...do not let this situation cause you to question yourself and your worthyness. Maybe God was protecting you in some way. Or, maybe there is another place where your assets could be used and appreciated!

- Mar 31, 2004, 07:53 PMI just had one of the stupidest experences with LAPD Poly. Three years ago and passed another department's poly, no sweat. I just got home from my second LAPD exam and I don't know what to make of it. The first time he stopped the exam because I was
breathing too slow and could not get a good read off me and my results were erratic. So he told me to retake it on another day.
Just now I was testing and he stopped the exam and went out. His supervisor came in and told me that they almost failed the first time because they
suspected I was employing countermeasures and they were reluctant to have me back. He said that I kept moving and said if you want the job to knock
off whatever I'm doing. I took it one more time and stayed still till it was painful. The examiner again said I was moving and not getting a good read
and said he was going to speak with the supervisor with my results. He came back and was not my "pal" anymore and said I will be informed within 30
days and wouldnt say amything else.
Now first of all, I totally agree on the polygraph. That exam was total B.S. They kept insisting that I have a steady brething pattern which I thought I provided. The supervisor said I did well with the first part(
which was the control questions). Before the exam he made a big deal that I
am already a sworn officer and he was basically trying to relate to me and be my pal. The thing with the supervisor threw me and he came back
and redid the exam. He printed out two charts and I glanced at them and I couldn't make anything out of it.
So tell me, what is going on?
