Please post your experiences with use of polygraph in sex addiction treatment and in couples counseling to test for fidelity.
These statements could be important in understanding the risk thereof. Thank You

Hmm. No replies?  I hope someone can jump in and talk about the problems associated with using polygraph in the treatment of couples or sex addiction. Seems to be standard practice for CSATs.  Cry

The "certified" sex addiction therapists who use polygraph need to get a clue.

Perhaps they should start here:

I came across a recent podcast featuring an interview with Houston, Texas polygraph operator Stephen Cabler, who specializes in so-called "sex addiction" polygraph examinations:

Polygraph use messed up my recovery journey. My wife feared the absolute worst and wanted me to take a poly based on one egregious question (I’m innocent btw) just to set her mind at ease before having to take another one before the disclosure. I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder, ADHD and depression, so the process was grueling for me. The result was Inconclusive, so of course I was not to be believed. I insisted on taking another 2 weeks later to set the record straight. Alas, I was so nervous that I failed and now I am not able to spend time with my daughter without supervision (my wife’s safety boundary) with no end in sight. It has been 2.5 months since and our therapeutic separation has turned into an almost “no contact” separation as my wife has been reeling from the failure. The CSAT therapists (mine and hers) really believe in the accuracy of the poly, so I don’t know what to do at this point. There can not be a therapeutic disclosure without polygraph. I can safely say that the polygraph process has hindered the restoration of our relationship and affected our mental health immensely.
