CBP polygraph concern

I am currently in the pre-employment process for CBP Officer.  However, I am also currently a contractor for CBP and hold a DHS background investigation for that position.

My concern is that I could endanger my current job (even though it is not a polygraph-designated position) if I do not pass the polygraph for CBPO.  Given that over two thirds of applicants fail the polygraph, I would strongly consider simply withdrawing my application if a failure could result in dismissal from my current position.

Does anyone have information on whether DHS uses failed polygraphs as cause to terminate clearances for current employees/contractors?

I have known several people who flunked Federal polygraphs and have been hired by other Federal agencies requiring clearances despite having a failed polygraph in their file.  I have known others who have experienced what you fear.  Government security divisions are not consistent in the way they adjudicates these matters.  I suspect that it often might be a case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing.  I am a retired Federal investigator.
