Bipolar and antipsychotics effects on polygraph?

My fiance wants me to take a polygraph before we get married because I lied about a few things when we 1st got together that I didn't confess to until later in our relationship. They were very big things! Anywho! I'm bipolar and cycle pretty rapidly, I also get panic attacks from confrontation, like job interviews, interviewing a midwife, and even talking to people that I just met. I just can't handle going "one on one" with someone even if it's a positive environment or for positive reasons. I'm also taking seroquel which is a antipsychotic medication. I've read in a few different places that this could cause me to give of false positives or make it to where I can't even take the test. I know I would pass and I don't mind taking it but now I'm scared that it will say that I'm lying because of me being bipolar and having panic attacks and/or from my medication! Is this true? Is that possible?  Embarrassed Thanks!

I guess I also need to add that I'm not trying to get out of taking the test. I could care less because I know that I will pass if me being bipolar and stuff won't affect it. I'm just terrified that this could cause a problem now that I came across it. I just want to know if I should ready myself for the possibility that a polygraph gone wrong could mess things up.

Lexi,

There are no studies on the effects of your condition or medication on polygraph outcomes.

But you should know that polygraphy has not been proven to reliably work with people who don't have such medical conditions. It's junk science. For a thorough debunking of polygraphy, see The Lie Behind the Lie Detector:

https://antipolygraph.org/lie-behind-the-lie-detector.pdf

I suggest that you share this information with your fiancé and forget the idea of taking a polygraph "test."

Get her to watch this video with you - it shows the problems you could have with the polygraph in a situation like yours.
