Anyone ever successfully re-applied to an agency after being DQ'ed by poly?

I was disqualified (DQ'ed) from an agency because they said I failed the polygraph.  I was told I could reapply in a year or two and I would like to.  I wonder if a previously failed poly bans me for life from an agency, but if it does, why would they say I could reapply?  Has anyone ever successfully, meaning that you got hired with an EOD, reapplied to an agency after a polygraph rejection?  If you have can you share your story?

If they told you to reapply in a year or two, then it is not a permanent disqualification.  I personally would apply at other departments and explain the failed polygraph to the new department, then take a new polygraph with the new department you are applying for.  "Most" agencies allow this and don't discriminate against you for the failed exam with another department.  If you ask before applying, I'm sure they will guide you through their process.  Good Luck

I thought there was only one Polygraph Unit at an agency that basically polygraphs all applicants, no matter what department the applicant is being recruited by.  For example, say the IC community.  Would it matter if I was applying as an analyst, a security guard, or a secretary?  I thought the polygraph would be the same no matter what.  You mean they will poly you different based on your position?  That's discrimination!  Besides, you can just get in then switch positions later.

I am sorry for misunderstanding your post.  I was talking about a different department such as FBI to ATF, DIS, or other agencies, not the same agency.  Just a side note, did the agency you applied for offer you a retest?  Most federal agencies will retest if requested.

Yes, they offered me a 2nd polygraph test, apparently I failed both, then my rejection letter came.
I'm past that now.  Is there anyone out there that successfully reapplied and EOD'd years later to the same agency that had previously rejected them due to the poly (whether is was security or suitability)? I can't find a single story online of anyone that did.  Anyone?

I took the polygraph in 2012 for CBP and after six hours was told I failed, a retest was denied.  I believe the the examiner stated I tried to tamper with the results which is not true.  I have replied multiple times but have never made it through the assessment phase once the results of the test were brought up.  What makes it worse is that this will show up in Background check for other agencies and unless you can supply evidence of mismanagement they may still use the failed results as a reason to disqualify you.

I'm still trying.  Somewhere some common sense will come up.

Probably not in the US Government however!   Grin

What do we call it when every employee of the Agency's Office of Security
and Office of Personnel drowns in the Potomac?   A great beginning!

The best intelligence community employee is a compromised IC employee!
