My Test

A couple weeks ago I went and took a polygraph for a state trooper position. I went down there not worrying about anything. I had nothing to hide.

I walk into the room a little nervous. The polygrapher started out very nice for about 5 minutes. We then went into a 5 hour interrogation. He asked me everything from having sex with dead bodies to drugs.

I go through and answer all of his questions openly and honestly, not thinking that anything I have done is terribly bad and most of it was when I was very young and stupid. After this interrogation he hooks me up to the machine for literally 8 minutes and that might be stretching it. He comes back 15 minutes later and starts telling me I failed and I better fess up and blah blah blah. Of course I knew I told the truth and told him that I had nothing to hide, and that I told him the most embarressing things in my life I have never told anyone, so why would I lie?

2 weeks later I get my rejection letter. I call the agency and was told, I passed my questions but I was given an unfavorable recommendation for hire.

This test was redictulous. I have done very very little and he acused me of lieing on something he did not even ask me about on the test. Looking at my past there was one thing I did when I was 12 that could even be questionable but I was 12..... He turned all my admissions into something 100 times worse than they really were.

Can this test be held against me from getting hired on other departments? I have worked the last 10 years working towards law enforcement. I have always been a great student, served in the Marine Corps and am finnishing up my degree, not to mention done a bunch of volunteer work and never been in trouble with the law.

Next time I take a polygraph you bet I will make no admissions and let the background run its course.

That 5 hour interrogation was to set you up for failure. You were the subject of a "personal opinion" decission. I don't know why you would want to go through that again.

Total load of BS. A poly chart is like a stock chart. We may both look at the exact same chart and while I say sell, you scream buy, buy, buy. They are very subjective. The only way to pass is to study the intricacies of it and practice, practice, practice. And even then there is probably one in three chances you will fail because the operator, frustrated at not being able to coerce you into a confession will read the chart like tea leaves and declare that you were either deceptive or were using counter measures like a Russian spy. Dont feel bad, its become so bad that nowadays the only sure way to get into law enforcement is to apply at several agencies at once. That way, so what if I fail the poly? I will pass it next week somewhere else. In my readings I have drawn the conclusion that the mental imagery technique works best in ensuring a good result, as well as recording the most prevalent poly questions and listening to them over and over again. This way, you will completely disensitize your mind to any reaction to the relevant questions as well as spiking the chart on the control questions. Just keep your head up, a positive outlook and always be "in process" somewhere. Best of luck.

Your non hire was not because of polygraph.

that's a lie you have never taken the a polygraph test. usually they ask you some questions, which your suppose to answer. then they hook you up and re-ask you those same questions. normally they ask you your name first, then the controlled question. have you ever lied to your probation officer or something. have you ever lied to your spouse. blah blah. they then make a mark where your heart rate, breathing, pulse rate, and sweat on your fingers. then they ask you the same questions they just asked you in the 'interview' part of the exam. after they ask you again while hooked up they ask you again, and then a third time but in different orders. then after that is the disclosure part of the polygraph test. where (still hooked up). he says he doesn't believe you. he tries so hard to get you to get mad or upset or nervous. this is how i beat every polygraph test i've taken. during the have you ever lied question i get really really really excited, angry, and totally pissed (flight or fight reflex). then after the controlled question i get really really really sad, depressed, and i'm at the point where i want to kill myself. i think who cares, i don't care, they can't do anything to me. fuck it etc... for all other questions. if he starts to yell at me i ask him if he's trying to manipulate the test, and i want to know his supervisor. usually shuts him up. btw i'm a sex offender so i take a lot of them. you can bite your tongue through the controlled question, but if you leave a mark you'll go to jail. so far i've beaten 6 polygraph tests in the last 8 years. my PO is finally understanding that they can't use that tool against me but i can use it against them, by saying ' if you don't believe me i'll take a polygraph test' lol.

NVM,
For 8 years you have "defeated" polygraph while in treatment for a sexual offense?   Which questions have you been untruthful to?  Have you been able to re offend and not been caught?  Violated probation stipulations or some other violation which would have resulted in your going to prison?

NVM,
Speaking for myself, I only advocate use of countermeasures to prevent being the victim of a false positive. I, and I assume other proponents of this website, are against using the resources for nefarious purposes. I do believe it's unethical to lie, but I'm no saint for sure.

I encourage you to take your therapy in a positive light and make it work for you in order to better your life. While I could find some 15 year old girls appealing, I know that their limited life experience often does not allow them to make good decisions. What they need is a gentleman to respect and guide them, not exploit the situation. You have a chance to make amends and better your life--you are the tamer of your own tiger.

did i mention also i married her? i like to leave things out to see what people say. like you... you jump to conclusions thinking that it was a 1 night stand. i pleaded out for 10 years because i had a bad public defender. I only break 1 rule and that is my drinking rule to play poker. i'm very good at it too. oh hold on wife wants to say something

YOU DON'T KNOW HIM, LIKE I DO. WE'VE BEEN TOGETHER SINCE THE OFFENSE.

erm. sorry about that. i have made my life so much better. you see not only did i marry her, but i also finished college, and drinking was not part of my offense. i only have 2 more years of probation and 15 years of the registry. so i cross my fingers and hope things will turn out for the best. Seems like kind of a harsh sentence if you were only 4 years older than her at the time. Cannot you now go back to the court and seek relief considering that you are now a married couple?

Courts generally consider 2 years age difference acceptable when the victim is under 18 years of age.  4 years age difference when the victim is 15 years old is considered by the judicial system to be unacceptable.  I do agree with the judicial system.  This is only one persons opinion, there are cultures that consider a 13 year old female an adult, our culture is different.

Dang, when I was 18 in high school many of us senior guys had sex with the 15yr old freshmen/sophomore girls.  Even 19 in college, I smashed a 16 yr old.  Didn't Kobe Bryant hook up with Vanessa when he was 21 and she was 17?
And look up the story of  Genarlow Wilson from GA.  He was a 17yr old black man who got a blow job from some slutty 15yr old white girl, and they give him 10yrs in jail (though he got out in 2) and make him register as a sex offender?

Four years age difference isn't bad at all.  Teenagers of all ages have been fucking since the beginning of time, and still do.  I hate seeing good people go down on stupid charges.  There are REAL pedophiles out there (sandusky, r.kelly, catholic priests, and even federal agents getting busted for child porn)!

NVM, I'm sorry you got screwed by the system.  Quite frankly, I think the U.S. justice system is a load of crap.

You are compartmentalizing; you make the assumption that being past puberty makes it okay to "smash" them. I personally don't think someone under 18 really has the life experience to fathom the far reaching consequences of having sex at a young age. I believe it is the duty of older men to protect and be an example, not exploit the vulnerable.

Also, it's not a crime to be a pedophile, but exploiting the innocent is another story. I encourage both of you to look deeper into your hearts in order to determine just what kind of man you want to be. Think of the future, when you may have a young daughter of your own--how would you feel about some guy smashing her?

What about older women who have sex with underage boys?  Why do they always seem to get a slap on the wrist and avoid jail for being pedophiles?

Are you serious?  Do you see what you just wrote?  LOL.  Man, are you stupid?!  I won't even comment there.

It would be great if my children wait until they are married to have sex, but I know teens will be teens and will encourage them to use protection if they decide to have sex.

Men or women who are much older than the kids they have sex with deserve stiff crimes.  I want to see these female teachers who have sex with their male underage students be given some serious time.  I also hate faggot pedophiles like Sandusky and those priests.  But I also think the crime should be stiffer the greater the age difference.  My point was that a 4 year age difference isn't a big deal, especially if they are both teens.  The law should give a 4 year tolerance or something.  It is NOT always the man's fault, stefano.  I would think you would side with us on this one.  It takes two to tango.  Women mature faster than men, generally.  So a 15/16 year old girl is just as mature as an 18/19 year old male.  If two teens have sex, it is on both of them.  The guy will be seen as "the man" and the girl as "the slut".  That's society.  They should not be given these stiff punishments.  That Genarlow Wilson case was just a tragedy for Genarlow and the judge and jury should have all been shot.
