I first want to start out by saying I initially believed in the validity of polygraphs, as I'm sure so many others did. I was accused of throwing eggs on a girls car that I had a verbal argument with in a parking lot months before. I had no clue who this girl was nor where she lived. I was facing a $6,000 fine to get the FELONY case dismissed. I begged my attorney and Ft. Worth judge to give me a lie detector test, even though my lawyer said we could beat the case without it. The police offers said they did not believe I did it, and they did not make an insurance claim on the vehicles in question, leading us to believe that they just wanted money. I was adamant upon taking the lie detector so that I could sue the city of Euless and my accuser for defamation of character. At that time, I had never done any research on polygraphs or their true measure of accuracy, so I had no idea what I was walking into. I detest my attorney for allowing me to go through with such action, as he should have advised me never to take one. I initially went to Richard Wood, a polygraph examiner in Arlington, Tx which the court referred to me as their chosen polygraph examiner. (Surprise, surprise the court ALWAYS refers defendants to Richard Wood as he has since been in a lawsuit regarding the capitalization of the Tarrant County sex offenders.) After giving him a check for $550 he strapped me up to the chair and proceeded to ask me several ambiguous questions. He would ask if I have ever betrayed a friend. At first I said no but they began to think when I told a secret I was not supposed to tell. I began to get nervous because I wanted to answer as truthfully as possible. Richard told me to just say no when he asked it again. I felt very unsure about saying no in fear of a wrong result. After three hours of interrogation style questions I finally demanded that he simply ask me if I knew where the girl that is alleging this lived since she said it happened at her house. He refused and said that he did not have her address to ask me that, which my lawyer provided him with! I began to get very upset as I was so confident going in but Mr. Wood was making me very upset with the questions that had no relevancy to my case in question. He then informed me that "I was not doing so good!" I started to finally break down. I told him over and over I have no clue of where this woman could possibly live and I have never thrown an egg at a car in my life. I could not believe it when he said there was deception indicated on the eggs! I began to cry uncontrollably as Richard Wood started to rip the arm cuff and cords off me like I was some kind of lying criminal. I left the office a complete train wreck feeling raped and violated. For weeks I could not get it off my mind. I was so appalled at the justice system and Richard Wood for falsely accusing me. I then remember another name I saw next to Richard Wood for polygraph examiners. His name is Eric Holden Jr. (His father is Eric Holden Sr. also a polygraph examiner) I called his office and set up yet another polygraph exam to try to prove my innocence one last time. I gave Eric Holden $800 and began the test. It was much more relaxing then with Richard Wood but I still had little confidence after what happened to me with the first false positive. At the end Eric Holden informed me that if I needed a 6 to pass I made a 12! He said without a doubt the computer and he concur that I did not throw any eggs! I was so elated! I wanted to run over and hug him! I began to tell him how horrible my experience with Richard Wood was and what he put me through. Eric Holden said he would send the results right over to my attorney. I walked out feeling exonerated of this ridiculous allegation. About a week later my attorney told me that he had not received the results so he called Eric Holden's office. They informed my attorney that Eric Holden Sr had looked over the results and said that they had questions regarding my control answers and that if I did not come back in to take yet a THIRD polygraph that they would tell the court they had no opinion or inconclusive and that Richard Wood would state that I had deception indicated! I again, felt completely raped and robbed. I began to think about the entire situation and re evaluate it. My attorney informed my that Eric Holden, Sr and Richard Wood are long time friends, Richard even knew Eric Holden Jr since he was young. I then pieced together the puzzle and realized that if Eric Holden told the court the truth, that I passed with "flying colors' as he told me, and Richard Wood then tells them there was deception indicated, that would completely destroy the validity of a lie detector and show inconsistency. That would also make Richard Wood look completely inept, and he nor the Tarrant County judicial system could have that as that he where they send the majority of their sex offenders to go to take a polygraph. Richard Wood is their go to guy to administer polygraphs, and in no way could they allow him to look like an idiot with two conflicting polygraph results on the same case. I then realized that it was a complete set up and if I were to go back to Eric Holden (who informed my attorney that if I took a third test he would administer it free of charge) he would certainly make the test appear that there was deception indicated so that he and Richard Wood would have matching results and all would be perfect in the consistency of the accuracy of the polygraph text. I was so offended, I declined the offer. I then went up to Eric Holden's office to speak with him to understand why he would tell my attorney and I that I was absolutely telling the truth, then retract his statement after he found out I took a test, previously, with Richard Wood. When I got to the office, like my lawyer advised me, I asked the receptionist for a copy of my results so that I could take them to court. I was also videotaping her to have proof if anything else un honest arouse. She spend ten minutes going from the back room to the phone and informed me they did not have my file or any records! She then got on the phone to Eric Holden. She said "oh we are going to retest her, it was inconclusive?" I told her I would not retest and that I know that Eric Holden and Richard Wood are together in this to ensure they have matching results as to not disrupt their credibility. At that point she began to say that I need to speak with my attorney and "not to give her any lip!" I told her I needed to speak with Mr. Holden and asked her if I could have his number. She then insisted that "You will never speak to him lady" I told her not to speak to me in that manner and she told me I was "getting her in face". I then informed her that there was a glass partition between us and there would be no way for me to get in her face. From that point she proceeded to tell me that she will shut the blinds on me and kept pointing her pen at me and stating over and over, "You need to talk to your attorney, you will not speak with Eric, you need to talk to your attorney, I won't talk to you anymore." There were several people in the waiting room and it was a very childish and embarrassing display of her lack of professionalism in that matter. I spent $800 and could not obtain my results nor would anyone talk to me about my own polygraph test. I informed her after her temper tantrum that I had been recording her to show how they conduct themselves with clients. I plan to upload the video soon to several media outlets and local new stations. After doing my research on the accuracy of polygraph tests, as well as the credibility of examiners such as Richard Wood and Eric Holden, I realize I never should have agreed to take the test. Richard Wood has been involved in a lawsuit from a fellow polygraph examiner, he is accused of trying to monopolize the Tarrant County sex offenders where as he is to by recommended by the courts for over 80% of defendants to take a polygraph. Eric Holden's credibility is already in question as he was the defendant of a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by one of his students at a Austin, Tx polygraph school. He is now banned from teaching at their campus. And now, I will have to pay $6,000 tomorrow to ensure I am not convicted of a felony! This case has cost me around $10,000 in total and more stress than I can ever imagine. My accuser will obtain $6,000 and no recourse for her lies, and Richard Wood and Eric Holden will enjoy spending the $1,350 I gave them to try to exonerate myself. This leaves me with very little hope or faith in the justice system. I feel for those who have been shown to be guilty when they were not. I think tomorrow will be a very sad day for me, the feelings I have towards any justice has now been demolished. We have to do something about these polygraph examiners to insure no more lives are ruined by their criminal techniques and falsifying reports.
