Here's the short version.  I'm in law enforcement and had an individual file a complaint against me for a number of things.  Okay, no problem, bring on the internal affairs folks.  They investigated, found no basis, but they wanted me to take a polygraph.  First question I asked, "What are the issues?"  Answer from my division chief:  "I don't know."  My answer:  If I take this polygraph and when I pass it, will this stop?  Ans:  "I don't know."  My response:  "Then why should I take it?"

A month later, at my own expense and through my attorney, I took a polygraph examination using an individual who is well known in the community.  Passed the test, we submitted the results to the agency and their response was:  "You've been in law enforcement, you know how to beat the test."

So let me get this straight, you offer me one of your polygraphs without explaining the issues.  I go out, obtain a "reputable/certified" examiner, pass the the test using questions based on the issues that my attorney pulled from the agency and now I'm guilty of undermining the polygraph.  Wow!
