as of 2008 the border patrol has found it necessary to start issuing polygraph examinations. i  myself applied for the border patrol because i knew that it was the only law enforcement agency to not require a polygraph examination (or so i thought). its not that i am a horrible murder or anything like that  i just know how faulty this "science" is and i simply dont trust it. by the time i was told i had to give a polygraph exam   i had already a waited 6 months for this job and figured i will give it a shot.  the first time around i failed and was given another chance a month later and failed that one also.  has anyone else shared a similiar experience with the border patrol and still got hired?

Looks like they fell in line with the other government agencies of giving the polygrapher and his machine sole determination of who gets hired and who gets rejected. The agency is probably overloaded with applicants and it's elimination time and the HR department is not intelligent enough or too damn lazy to do the work of picking good people from the crowd.

My advise is get away from government retards and go to work in the private sector where there is some semblance of intelligence.

I was thinking about this yesterday, the idea that Gov't agencies are simply using the polygraph as a method to eliminate people when there are more applicants than available slots. I feel that is what happened in my case and it seems others feel that way as well.

Has anyone ever tried a FOIA request to find out the number of people subjected to a pre-employment polygraph versus how many actually pass, at a particular agency? Would information like this even be obtainable through a FOIA request?

For some years now, CIA polygraph examiners are also trained at the DoD polygraph school (the Defense Academy for Credibility Assessment).
