Somebody else's perscription

About 3 months ago a good friend of mine and co-worker were traveling home from a job site and I was really sleepy.  He takes anti-depressants and said they make him "hyper" and that it would help keep me awake while driving.  So I took half of one pill to help keep me awake.  Do departments frown on this or is this just a minor issue.  I've never used any other drug in my life.  Thanks for the help.

Hmmmm, be honest with your application, and counter deceptive tests you need to take.  Smiley

It depends on what state you are in.  Different states have different laws.  It also depends on the medication.

If it was a non-narcotic prescription medication you probably did not break the law by taking it, but you did use drugs.  When you are asked on your application if you have ever used drugs you would need to include this incident.

If that is the extent of your drug usage I doubt any department would disqualify you.

Sir,
Tell the examiner that you took half a tabletten of a prescribed medication - your friends medication, but only so as not to lose concentration while driving. He will ask you why you didnt let your friend drive. Have your answer ready.

Respectfully,
JP

It is my understanding that since prescription sharing is so common in families due to the high cost of a vist to the doctor. Many agencies are restricting questions concerning prescription medication to "Recreational Use"  Your situation is borderline, you should probably discuss it openly rather than try to conceal it.
