Do you gies think there is any chance that the government will abandon its use of the polygraph anytime soon, or do you think they will continue to use it while the majority of the public and private sector are aware if its flaws?

I suspect you are incorrect in saying "... the majority of the public and private sector are aware if its flaws".  I'll bet a large majority of the folks you might poll on the street would say that they believe a polygraphic examination can almost always detect lies.

So until polygraphy no longer is a core belief (reference Dr. Phil and movies like "Meet The Parents") it will be used BY THE GOVERNMENT, FOR THE GOVERNMENT and ON THE PEOPLE.  (But of course not on the government!) Wink

Yea your probably right. Maybe the public sector does see the polygraph as a useful tool, but I would say that that people who have researched it and have made an effort to understand the way it works, I think those people understand that its not accurate, nor is it a safe way to screen people since it can be manipulated. Hopefully in the near future they'll start reconsidering using it, and even if they continue to use it I hope that they wont decide the future of a candidate based on the results, but in fact use it to scare someone to give an admission.
