Need some Advice!

I tested a while back for a US intelligence agency and was going to go back through the process, but I have some questions first. When it came to my past poly for the agency, I was asked the usual questions about drug use, terrorist activity, etc. Long Story short, I opted out of processing because I thought that was the best thing to do at the time. The examiner did say that he would rate me in the 70% range on truthfulness. My question is, If I re-apply with this agency, will I have a chance or will they pull old records and ask me a dozen questions about what I know with the poly, and then fail me anyways. Should I try again, but have a good story ready just-in-case?

mr_X,

You never know until you try, whats the worst that can happen they tell you no. Except this time keep your polygraph knowlege to yourself. That slipup cost you big, but I do believe that they only keep prior (non-hire) polygraphs for a certain amount of time  (I am not sure, but this came from one of my readings, unless its FBI) If I am wrong someone will correct me.  Good luck and I would say try again. This time make sure you have the game and the plan worked out beforehand. ANd you know, The Lie behind the Lie Detector" chapter 3 & 4 by heart.  Good Luck

Regards ....

I am not aware of any documentation that would support this belief. On the contrary, it seems that polygraph records are maintained indefinitately. See the thread CIA Released My Sexual History.
