All Concerned,

I found this today and found it most interesting that the California Polygraph Association meeting schedule for next month in San Diego, (Coronado Island actually), has set aside almost 8 hours to training reguarding countermeasures. Seems to me for those folks that say countermeasures are a trivial thing, seems to be alot of attention and time in this area. But again I say if it all so worthless, then why the attention. Nobody pays for nonsense, even though a trip to San Diego is always quite cool.

I'm surprised to see they used military time.  I would figure such mental calculations would be beyond the abiliites of the average polygrapher.

Forgive my spelling error, but doesn't this fall into the category of an "ad hominum" attack?

alterego1's post is indeed an ad hominem attack, and as such is entirely inappropriate.

EosJupiter,

Polygraph countermeasures has been a recurring topic at polygraph meetings across the country in recent years, especially since AntiPolygraph.org went on-line in 2000. I agree with you that evidently, at least behind closed doors, the polygraph community does not consider countermeasures to be a trivial thing.

Is this open to anyone? If so, what's to stop a non-polygrapher from checking out such an event?

It is open to polygraph examiners only.  And we do study Counter Measures and are aware that they can effect the tracings.  We know what to look for and can generally tell you what you did and how.  I am not afraid of your use of counter measures, and have the ability to detect most, not all.

Dippityshurff,

No fireworks on this one from me .... but I am getting real tired of the polygraphers expounding the company line, with no substance to back it up. The more fed up I get the more I am considering writing a piece of software to download from this site, that is a countermeasure trainer (Free of Course),  as a companion to the TLBLD. Lets give them something to really think about.  Lets take this up a notch shall we. Does anyone think this might be a good thing .. obviously our local polygraphers will not think so.

EosJupiter,

This is an excellent idea. I have long been contemplating something along these lines (perhaps Flash-based), but I just don't quite have the technical skill to get it done.

Still, something that would produce questions and then require the viewer to identify them as irrelevant/relevant/control (and click to apply some 'measure, of course) would be ideal to have on the site.

Private Message me if you want to discuss this further.
